Jesus
02:12
|
|||
Made you in my head out to be Jesus
Made you in my head to be of Nazareth
I used to get all so gooey
Just seein' the first letter of your name
Then I came over for the whole weekend
Now I'm not feelin' quite the same
Yeah something's changed, something's different
Think it started when I noticed the pile of trash in your kitchen
Or maybe I don't feel the same anymore
'Cause I know now your mattress is right on the floor
You're considerin' movin' to Philly
Gettin' Mommy to buy your toiletries
Talkin' to me like it's therapy
You don't know if you want monogamy
But my bed's on the floor, too, honestly
Can't sleep without my teddy
Thought we could love like grown-ups forever
But we both don't have our shit together

Could?
01:59
|
|||
Was an oglin’ fool
Spillin’ my drink
All over my thigh
As I watched them peel their clothes off in the winter
Christina says
She witnessed
16 babies be born
Oh, it was so cyclically physical
And I thought, as I watched, could I be like you?
Sittin’ there
Only in underwear
Regaling tales of your touchin'
Meanwhile I’d been beggin’ to be left alone
In assembly
When you were 13
Declared yourself the spokesperson
But if I didn't know then what I think I am today,
then how can I know it is real?
And I thought, as I watched, could I love like you?

Lisa's got a new job
03:28
|
|||
I did some business with a guy named Danny
I was pickin' the stuff up when he told me
About his co-worker, over a cigarette,
(Well, only he was smokin', but anyway)
She used to work two jobs
The one that he worked at and a bar
She'd always come in a little late
'Cause the bar gig ended pretty late
Now she doesn't need to burn the candle at both ends-
She got 1 good job:
Workin' for the city
Earnin' a better salary, gettin' a lotta benefits
Like compensated dentist
She's even got paid vacation
Lisa's got a new job
Now she and Danny don't talk so much anymore
Since her employment rearrangement
And isn't that a funny thing life does?-
You can spend every second with somebody
And then suddenly they're gone
Like it never happened
Sometimes they get a drink or two, now and again,
But it's never the same
Lisa's scalin' those subway stairs
Simultaneous with the sunrise
Cutting out your own corner of the world
Can't speak for Dan but I know you'll be alright, girl
Lisa's got a new job
